Gavin and I are supporting Gorstey Lea, a genre-blurring, emotionally-charged band drawing inspiration from a wide sweep of British and American influences – from the punk and ska of The Clash and The Specials, to the shimmering psychedelia of Echo & The Bunnymen and the poetic pop of Richard Hawley and Cherry Ghost.

Wolverhampton's Grammy contenders MAMA ft. Antonella to play Birmingham

The Express & Star

"Wolverhampton-based multiplatinum producer Gavin Monaghan and his author fiancée, Antonella Gambotto-Burke, who, as MAMA ft. Antonella have just been placed into the first ballot for Best New Artist and Best Rock Album by the GRAMMY Awards® committee, are playing Birmingham on October 30.

"Industry buzz has been building around the duo since the release of their debut album Apex Predators. The gritty, nine-track, lo-fi masterpiece was described by veteran music critic Kris Needs, in Electronic Sound Magazine, as, 'a riveting stone killer, supercharged with searing intensity and fried circuit gumbo that'll barbecue your ham-hocks' ..."

MAMA ft. Antonella producer joins Grammy Awards judging team

Express & Star

"We've been so humbled by the response," Monaghan said. "While I knew that Antonella’s voice is hit-the-floor amazing, it's easier for me to gauge the work of others than my own, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. We spent so much time creating the album that it had become a universe unto itself."

EWL interviews Gavin Monaghan

EWL Podcast (USA), Facebook

"MAMA ft. Antonella's music is like, you know, taking a ride out to the desert, taking a nice handful of peyote and shoving it deep down in a pipe and, you know, taking a trip and going to the clouds, baby! Jim Morrison who? Little bit of Morrison, little bit of Floyd, and a little bit of, you know, Satan. I love it! ... The pipes on that woman, oh my God!"

Louder than War review

Louder than War, Manchester

"MAMA Ft Antonella are a duo: Antonella Gambotto-Burke, a lyrical genius, a poetic Princess plus an elite enigma, and Gavin Monaghan, multi-platinum Magic Garden Studio Producer. A master of crafts. MAMA’s melts you with her hypnotic and hurricane splitting vocal range, which BIMM Music Institute Professor Jonathan Day, has likened to that of Robert Plant. It soars, it bites, it licks, it kisses, it whispers, it yelps, it strangles you until you submit. It’s an everlasting hug, it’s a raging butterfly. It pauses time, and it’s a viper in lingerie. That accompanied with Monaghan’s ability to deliver a raucously intricate choreographed guitar style; a sound that wraps around you with the dramatic impact of a Hitchcock flick, is enough to create one formidable creature. Maybe MAMA is the Apex Predator? Nah, she couldn’t be, could she?" ...

RGM review

RGM, Manchester

"MAMA Ft. Antonella is a duo that brings together two creative forces: Antonella Gambotto-Burke and Gavin Monaghan. Antonella (who once turned down the chance to sing for The Jesus and Mary Chain) has a presence that’s theatrical, emotional, and totally unpredictable. Monaghan, often referred to as a musical mastermind, brings polish and edge to everything he touches. Together, they’ve released Apex Predators, a debut album that isn’t afraid to go deep or strange ..."
